Letter From Denali Borough School Board
Dear DBSD Parents and Public:
A meeting was posted for February 8, 2010, to go over options for balancing our budget for next school year. The intent was to give the School Board the benefit of the thinking of the public regarding options under consideration, and to seek other options from the community at large. The Board is currently working with the administration to find ways to trim the budget and possibly increase revenue in an effort to minimize or eliminate the need for further cuts. Many ideas have been presented that may improve the budget situation dramatically. We need to fully explore those options to determine their viability before presenting them to the public.
With that process still on-going, we are postponing that public meeting until February 22 from 6-8 PM, at the Tri-Valley School (room to be determined). Our strong intent is to avoid any further cuts to staff and program, as we continue to see costs increase faster than revenue. You are encouraged to contact members of the School Board or administration at any time to discuss your ideas for a balanced budget that serves children in the best and most efficient manner possible.
In the meanwhile, let legislators know the needs of our children in our education system. We need to at least receive funding that keeps us even with inflation.
See you on February 22nd!
Denali Borough School Board
Letter From the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Community Members of Denali Borough School District:
The cuts sustained by our students this year have been difficult for students and staff alike. Staff members are doing more to make up for the positions lost, and students are going without programs and the academic support available in the past. If you are interested in increasing the educational opportunities of our children, and not lose more, read on.

School District Gaming Permit
Owing to state regulations, the school district gaming permit may be used only by school groups, and all funds collected and spent must be handled by the school district business office. The permit is not available for other organizations to use.
Thank You to the Denali Borough
The Denali Borough School District enjoys a relationship with its Borough that not all districts can boast. We receive not only the minimum financial support mandated by the state but the most allowable by state law. Relationships are positive, with the borough consistently reminding its constituents that one if its main reason for existence is the education of its children. The borough partners with the district in applying for grants and in constantly looking out for the welfare of students in lobbying efforts to the legislature. From the Board, administration, staff and students of Denali Borough School District:
Thank-you Denali Borough and Mayor Dave Talerico!
Message from Superintendent
Dear DBSD Students, staff and public,
On Friday the 13th, (love the date), at 3:30 PM in the Healy Community Library, Senator Thomas and Representative Guttenberg will meet with the School Board to discuss various issues regarding our schools and needs of our students. We have three sources of revenue, the federal government, the state and the Borough. The federal government accounts for 7% of school budgets nationally, and impacts 85% of programs.
